Article: Riding Season is in Full Swing!

Riding Season is in Full Swing!

Riding Season is in Full Swing!

I just had such an awesome start to the busy season last month in April.

I had to take some down time for medical issues last fall and winter, I have since been cleared. And with the start of spring, I am ready and eager to get back to saddle fitting and helping my clients!

I was blown away with the unbelievably warm welcome I received from so many clients, old and new. My goal was to start slow, but who am I kidding, slow doesn't really have much space in my life!

So after a few smaller trips in the Okanagan in late winter and early spring, April brought on my first big trip in over a year, to Alberta!

I forgot how much I love the drive out to Edmonton. The trip started a bit wonky, making me wonder if I should reconsider my decisions! The day before I leave for a multi-day fitting trip is always crazy. There's food to prep and pack, for both myself and my family, tools, tree press, many saddles, client files, accessories, my personal clothing and toiletries to get together and ensure nothing gets forgotten or left behind.

Well, the day before I left, I ended up in the local hospital's emergency room for a few  hours with an unexpected illness. Luckily, although I wasn't feeling good, I got a prescription to help me and was on my way. But that sent me off my usual routine and I was rushed to get everything done before my 9 hr drive to my first clients the next day in Edmonton.

I am lucky to have an amazing village and support system thanks to my family, so they helped with prepping my food for the road and dinner for the family so I could focus on not forgetting essential tools and saddles.

I somehow managed to squeeze in a long day of prep work into a few hours. I was tired, but the next day I felt good about hitting the road. And I did! I drove for an hour and a half before I got a call from my husband saying I forgot my luggage with all my toiletries and clothes.

So I rushed back towards home, and he packed himself and our daughter and headed my way. We met in the middle for the quickest, side of the highway exchange, and I then had 1.5 hours of driving to catch up on which was impossible. I was going to be late for my clients which is not like me.

But I made it to my first appointments in Edmonton safe and sound and I thank God that despite the many mishaps, the rest of my trip was great!!

Less than 2 weeks after my return, I was back on the road for a 3-day Okanagan trip. Luckily, no hospital trips were needed for this one, and I didn't forget anything. In fact I may have over packed, but I wasn't complaining!

I was blessed with summer-like weather, amazing horses and the best clients.

So I send out a heartfelt THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to my supportive, understanding and kind clients. I appreciate you all and I'm grateful I get to be part of the team of professionals that help keep you and your horses healthy and comfortable.

Now I get a couple weeks to catch up and prep for the next round of craziness that will happen. I am heading out to dressage shows in western Canada and even Ottawa at the Ottawa Dressage Festival to set up booths to promote my new online store Equine Collective and show off the colorful matchy sets I designed!

I'll also be available for saddle fittings before these shows so keep an eye out for me and if ever I'm in your neck of the woods, I'd love to see you and have a chat!!

Cheers,

Brigitte
